Guest wireless access is dropping out after 4 hours.

    Version:                     6.1.3.9

     

    In short

     

    After authentication via the guest portal, the guest wireless disconnects after 4 hours of use, the guest session is not idle.

     

    I'm guessing that this is a timeout option somewhere, but i'm unable to find it, any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

    Are you using the controller internal captive portal ?

     

    Check the following :

     

    (CONTROLLER) #show aaa timers

    Global User idle timeout = 300 seconds
    Auth Server dead time = 10 minutes
    Logon user lifetime = 5 minutes
    User Interim stats frequency = 600 seconds

     

    (CONTROLLER) #show wlan ssid-profile GUESS-SSID

    SSID enable Enabled
    ESSID guest_ssid
    Encryption wpa2-aes
    Enable Management Frame Protection Disabled
    Require Management Frame Protection Disabled

    HI,

     

    Thank you for the response and yes, we are using the controller captive portal.

     

    I will check the ssid profile as suggested and post my findings.

    In the Guest user role, make sure that you do not have a reauthentication interval configured for 4 hours...

    Firstly - Thank you for the responses.

     

    To confirm, the issue was the Re-authentication Interval.

     

     

    For reference this was found in...

     

    Configuration > User Roles > 'Role' > RE-authntication Interval

    My version is 6.4.4.  Want to make sure I'm looking at the right setting. I'm having a similar issue. I'm looking at Security/Access Control/User Roles.  Is that correct?

    Correct.  The Reauthentication interval should not be configured or just 0.
