Is RTP considered on voice traffic for WMM?

Dear All

ALU ip wireless phone is used with ArubaOS5.0.3.3. We want to send voice traffic at higher priority enabling WMM. WMM for voice is set to 40. But the packet captured showed that DSCP value is not 40 but it is "0" after removing from GRE. Manual don't mention any about RTP in voice section. So I am wondering if RTP is not considered as voice traffic in WMM content queue enforcement. In WMM content queue enforcement, no voice traffic will be considered as best effort traffic, which is value 0. Can anyone confirm if RTP protocol is not considered as voice on Aruba?

Best Regards

Questions:

- What VOIP Handset is this?
- What VOIP protocol is in use (NOE)?
- Is this ArubaOS 5.0.3.3 or AlcatelOS?
- Did you enable WMM in the SSID profile
- Did you take a look at the ArubaOS Guide to Roaming Devices here: http://www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/technology/DG_Roaming.pdf?
- Turn off enforcement for now, if you can.

The short story is yes, RTP should be optimized.

I appreciate your quick answer.
- What VOIP Handset is this? OT8118
- What VOIP protocol is in use (NOE)?NOE
- Is this ArubaOS 5.0.3.3 or AlcatelOS? Alcatel OS is in use.
- Did you enable WMM in the SSID profile? Yes.
- Did you take a look at the ArubaOS Guide to Roaming Devices here:? No, I will look now.
- Turn off enforcement for now, if you can. We disable enforcement then voice is classified to wmm dscp 40 correctly. Do you have any idea why wmm doesn't mark voice without enforcement?

I cannot answer the enforcement question, because I do not know. It could be a bug. Please open a case with Alcatel to make sure that this works, as it should.
