Browsing the ASE (Aruba Solution Exchange) directly from Aruba 8320 Switch (Analytics -> Scripts -> ASE) I noticed there isn't yet a script to monitor normal LAG or VSX LAG (Multi-Chassis LAG) from their throughput standpoint.

Our actual requirment is to understand the egress (and ingress) traffic rate both (or, at least) on the logical aggregate interface (e.g. on lag1) and, concurrently if possible, on each port which is member of that monitored aggregate (clearly if in the interface is in Up state).

It looks like ArubaOS-CX 10.01 CLI doesn't provide a command (or a set of commands) similar to the one available on ArubaOS-Switch (show interface trunk-utilization) to have a rapid idea of LAG's throughput (it would be great to have also throughput measured using kbps or Mbps considering that packets per second, as measure unit, requires also the knowledge of packet lenght to understand the amount of traffic that is flowing on a interface).

On ArubaOS-CX 10.01.0020 I created an agent by using the script single_interface_tx_rx_stats_monitor.2.0 (Aruba NAE Certified)

but it doesn't work using lagid (e.g. lag1 which is, in our case, a lag multi-chassis) as interface_id necessary parameter (LAG is, de facto, an interface...even if not a physical one...probably those scripts expect exactly and only physical interface as parameter).

Side note: the script interface_tx_rx_stats_monitor.2.0 (Aruba NAE Certified) should instead be renamed into interfaces_tx_rx_stats_monitor.2.0 since it monitors multiple interfaces.

    Hi Parnassus,

This is a great idea, and we will be sure to identify that in future revisions!  I'd like to also point out our new Development Community group which discusses automation and programmability items like NAE, located here: https://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Developer-Community/gp-p/NetworkAbstraction

    Cheers,

    Alvin

Hello Alvin, is there any news about the above request for a NAE Script  to monitor VSX LAGs and normal LAGs' throughput?

Having a lot of Multi-Chassis (VSX) LAGs to monitor we discovered that, with NAE Scripts available now (single interface tx/rx statistics), is really difficult to have a complete and sinchronous view of what a VSX LAG interface is doing on a single VSX node in terms of its global/sinlge member interfaces' throughputs (not to speak if we want to monitor how the overall VSX LAG is behaving considering both VSX nodes to see where the data sessions are flowing and where not)...is there any NAE Script under active development?
