I'm really hoping this is a big joke.. I'm attempting to configure NTP on an Aruba 2930F switch using a hostname. There doesn't seems to be a way to do this (only IP). Every single other device in my network allows for this but it seems the Aruba isn't having it. Every. Single. One.

us.pool.ntp.org is configured pretty much everywhere.

Am I missing something?? I really don't want to configure NTP on my Palo just to get this switch operating correctly.

Can you try if ntp server-name will solve your question?

    sw-workshop-putn(config)# ntp ?
     authentication Configure NTP authentication.
     broadcast Operate in broadcast mode.
     enable Enable/disable NTP.
max-association Maximum number of Network Time Protocol (NTP) associations.
server Configure a NTP server to poll for time synchronization.
server-name Configure a NTP server by name to poll for time synchronization.
     trap Enable/disable NTP traps.
     unicast Operate in unicast mode.
    sw-workshop-putn(config)# ntp server-name ?
ASCII-STR The NTP unicast server name of max 255 chars.

Is that a new feature? I don't have it on my switch:

    HP-Lab-SW1(config)# ntp
     authentication Configure NTP authentication.
     broadcast Operate in broadcast mode.
     enable Enable/disable NTP.
max-association Maximum number of Network Time Protocol (NTP)
                           associations.
server Configure a NTP server to poll for time synchronization.
     trap Enable/disable NTP traps.
     unicast Operate in unicast mode.

Is this a version difference? I'm running 16.03:

    HP-Lab-SW1(config)# show flash
    Image Size (bytes) Date Version
    ----------------- ------------ -------- --------------
    Primary Image : 21989831 07/06/17 WC.16.03.0005
    Secondary Image : 21989831 07/06/17 WC.16.03.0005

    Boot ROM Version
    ----------------
Primary Boot ROM Version : WC.16.01.0003
Secondary Boot ROM Version : WC.16.01.0003

The lowest version I have online is 16.05.0004 and it is in there.

I checked this in the release notes and found the command was introduced in WC 16.05.0003:

Specify FQDN for NTP server configuration

The NTP client takes a fully qualified domain name as input and cycles through the list of IP addresses resulting from the DNS resolution until a reachable NTP server is found. Please refer to the "Time synchronization" chapter in the Management and Configuration Guide for details.
