    Hi,

Can anybody please confirm that 10G ports on 7210 are backward compatible to 1G?

What if we choose to put Aruba's 1G base-X SFP module to use on 10G ports, will it work?

    Quick response would be appriciated.

    Thank you.

    Yes, dual speed.

    10GBASE-X (SFP+) Ports

The 7200 is equipped with four 10GBASE-X (SFP+) ports. These port are labeled as 2, 3, 4, and 5. These
ports are intended for use with Aruba supported SFPs. SFPs are 10Gb hot-swappable, optical transceivers,
which convert serial electrical signals to external serial optical or electrical signals. The ports support dual
    speed (1GbE or 10GbE) operation.

    I'm confused on two things.

    1. I recived an email recently saying:"We cannot negotiate it to 10/100/1000 port speed"

    2. That's a followup to a question about "port speed", found in the GUI. On my 7220 you cannot select 10g as an option, only Auto/1000/100/10. That said, you are saying here that it can be one gig? I'm a bit confused at the moment.

    3. When I install a 10 gig spf+ card, will I be seeing the lower port speeds? Will 10g pop up or will I need to leave it on auto?

When you use a GBIC, you cannot set the port speed.

It will automatically come up on the rated speed.  Only connect GBICs with the same speed.

When you configure an interface without a GBIC, you can attempt to set the speed.

Do i have to convert the Slot? I used a 1 GE SFP and on CLI the Interface is named GE0/0/0.

After changing the SFP to SFP+ Interface name still is GE. Interface has got link but i cannot get connection.

    Any idea?
