    Hi All

I have installed 69 315 IAP at  new office, all  been managed by 2x 7205

    controller (still running AOS 6)

The issue is 7 out of the 69 will not show as "UP" on the controller

    Steps takan

    - converted them from IAP to CAP

    - made sure they are in the correct VLAN

    - they have received an IP in the correct range

    - I can ping them from the controller and switches

They did briefly appear in the default group as "UP" but as I went to provision them into the new AP group the controller said "AP is down"

The AP's then just disappear and then  reappeared as "down"

    - I have powered off the POE port and back on again but still nothing

    - Dont have Telnet or SSH access to the them

Other than having to take of the mount on the celiings and resetting

them  via consol is there anything else I can try ?

    Thank you

Which ArubaOS 6.x version are you running?

Do you have control-plane security enabled with auto-cert provisioning enabled?

What does "show ap database" (from the CLI) say?

    Hi

    Version:6.5.1.4

    CPsec is disabled

I have cleared those AP's again from the controller and here is the sequence:

    - They reappear as UP in the default group

    - As soon as I go to provision the AP it goes down

    - it then stays down

    Please see attached screenshots

I have also check POE power allocation on the switch

    Spanning tree blocked ports

I am still able to ping the AP's from the controller after the go into the "down" state

    thank you very much

Type "show log system 50" to see if you can get a reason why those APs are going down.

Do you have a firewall between the APs and the controller?  MPLS link?

    Hi Colin

    Please see attached the logs

I have a fairly simple Layer 2 network with Gateways
on the core and routing from there on.

There is only a firwall for WAN breakout but the
controllers are directly connected to the Core

The AP that shows up in the logs attached
is on the same switch with 4 other AP's
    that are working

All ports are configured exactly the same

I am starting to think (having looked at the logs) it could be a access port issue on the access switch., the patch panel or a cabling issue?

Or lastley the actual AP's themselves?

    thanks again

Try to test or replace the cabling if you can.

See if the port negotiated the proper duplex. If you are providing POE see if the switch is oversubscribed.

    Hi Colin,

So in total there was 6 AP's listed on the controller as DOWN

    3 in floor 9

    2 in floor 11

    1 in floor 12

removed the AP's from the ceiling on floor 9 plugged them directly into the switch waited for about 10 Min

did not see the logs like before:

    (HELLO-TIMEOUT, 238 sec before: Last Ctrl msg: HELLO len=1362 dest=172.16.55.11 tries=10 seq=0)

The AP's then came UP, the AP's on the other floors then also also came UP , plugged the AP's from the 9th floor back into the patch ports in the ceiling and they came UP again

So cant explain what the issue was and how the AP's on the other floors also came UP at the same time without touching them but hey everything is working now

    thanks for you help

I didn't do anything.  You troubleshot it yourself.  Do you have any special configuration on your switchports?

    Hi Colin

    Nothing special

untagged the AP Vlan on the access ports

tagged the AP Vlan on the 2 x 10Gig trunk - LACP, up to the core

    thank you
