    Hi,

Today I got my 7005 demo box. It is really funny what the controller reported  when I added licenses...

    (Aruba7005) #license add IFLmUZxk-3/3XGl65-Evrz61eZ-UaN/OlPq-A3PZ1dEO-vAs
The limit for Access Points has been constrained to the platform limit [32]

    (Aruba7005) #show license limits

    License Limits
    --------------
    Limit Value
    ----- -----
    32 Access Points
    32 RF Protect
32 Next Generation Policy Enforcement Firewall Module

I've double-checked - in datasheet 7005 supports up to 16APs. It is 6.4.2 code. Any comment?

    Many regards,

    Marek

    Marek,

Interesting find. We have our platform team looking into it, it should not have allowed a 32 AP license.

    Best regards,

    Marek,

I apologize for the confusion.  The 7005 does support a maximum of 16 AP, 16 RFProtect and 16 Policy Enforcement Firewall licenses as reported by the data sheet.

I am investigating why the controller you received is allowing 32 of each license and whether this is an isolated case with a few models or a general issue with AOS 6.4.2.0.

I will provide an update once I have additional information.

    Hi guys,
I would inform you that I checked that on two boxes. BTW, it looks as a very nice feature, though... Please do not remove it ;)

    Marek,

Thank you for checking on another 7005 platform.  Aruba has also done an investigation and found it to be a "bug" in ArubaOS.  The AP, Policy Enforcement Firewall and RFProtect limits were mistakenly set to the same as the 7010 platform.  During our system test process, the 7005 was validated to 16 APs, etc, but >16 was not attempted and the licensing ouput was overloooked.

Unfortunately, despite your request, we will need to fix this "bug" and plan to do so with our 6.4.2.1 release, which should be posted next week (week of 9/14).  From my conversations with the Engineering team, running 6.4.2.0 will not impact the operation of the 7005.  However, releases after 6.4.2.0 will set the license limits at 16 for the 7005, so to avoid any future issues, I encourage you not to overload your 7005 today with more than 16 APs!

Thanks again for alerting us to this issue.

Please be advised that ArubaOS 6.4.2.1 is available for download on our Support Portal.

It is recommend to upgrade the 7005 controllers (running ArubaOS 6.2.1.0 or 6.4.2.0) to ArubaOS 6.4.2.1 at your earliest.

    Thanks,

    Rizwan

I have seen this for a while but I thought it was for centeralized licsening features if it will work as a server for another controller
