    Posted Feb 12, 2013 02:31 PM

My 7210 is only a few weeks old but I've had a couple issues lately with it going offline.  When it goes offline I can't ping it, ssh to it, or connect via the Web GUI.  However, it is accessible via console cable.  I have no errors on the uplink switchport.

I've got a ticket open and they are looking at a couple crash.tar files from me.  I'm just curious if anyone else is having the same issue.

    I'm running 6.2.0.1

nothing that jumping into my eyes...

    • are u running Debug on clients maybe??
    • are u using captive portal on the controller?
    • when this problem happning - is after a few minutes the controller is back up..or u should restart it manully?
    • this controller is connected to an Airwave server - if yes, what is the AirWave version.

please supply me answers...i'm trying to point trouble your issue. (even due it's a new HW and also new AOS)

I can't find it now, but I thought I saw an error message during one of the outage times that said something like "Layer2/3 suspended" or something like that.

    Thanks for looking at it.

I do have it connected to a AirWave, but the airwave looses connectivity as well.  I dont really know where to look for any other info on there.  Let me know if there is a place to find it.

I'm not running a captive portal.  I am pretty basic in terms of setup.  I only have 2 SSIDs - one is open and the other is 802.1x pointing to a NPS server.

I dont think I am running debug on any clients.
And the box will not come back online.  I hadn't added this to my network monitor and it went down over the weekend and didnt come back up until I saw it monday morning and rebooted it.

Try to disconnect (just for test it)  the controller from AIRWAVE (disable the SNMP connectivity between the two) **it might be the Airwave making your controller process to carsh**

if the problem stopped so - the issue is between the AirWave version to your AOS version

    (Check it! - it's important)

    and update me.

ok - I'm waiting to hear! (hope it will stop your SSH/GUI/interface ports crash)

and from there we will continue, to understand if the Airwave was the source and what exactly.

Try upgrading it to the verion 6.2.0.2

    it could be a bug...

Also you should upgrade it just in case of this:  If you read the release notes of 6.2.0.2

Symptom: An internal controller module stopped responding, corrupting data on the controller and

causing the controller to become unusable. The only resolution is to replace the controller. This

issue is resolved in ArubaOS 6.2.0.2.

Scenario: This issue was observed on M3 and 3000 Series controllers running ArubaOS 6.2.0.0

    and 6.2.0.1."

6.2.0.2 fixes this... just in case you should upgrade it... as like it says it just have been observed on M3 and 3000  for now... but still...

When werd things happening without no  explanation i always try to upgrade it and it solve the issue like 90% of the times in my case.

    Cheers

    Carlos

This is an A7210 and is not affected by this bug.

This bug (77230) is platform dependant, honestly it only affects M3 and A3x00 controllers and not A72x0 controllers.

    Cheers

    Giles,

I'm not sure what you are saying, but I have a 7210 and the bug with the AMSDU exists on my controller.

Quote from TAC "As an update the bug has been fixed, the fix will be available in 6.2.0.3 which is yet to be released."

I think my reply got crossed with the other post.

I've checked your ticket and eng report your issue is bug 74048 which is fixed in AOS 6.2.0.3 due for release shortly.

I was referring to the other post where the suggestion was to upgrade to AOS 6.2.0.2, as that was not related to your issue.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I hope TAC are helping you out.

If possible if it goes off line again I would issue 'tar logs tech-support' from the CLI, this will store a file called logs.tar on the flash, after rebooting the controller to regain service, copy the file off and send to TAC.

The file will include the 'show cpu' etc.

I would not think this is caused by AirWave, if the controller's SNMP process has issues or the CLI - those processes would re-start and would have no affect on the IP stack of the controller.

Something else is happening here which we will get to the bottom of, I'm sure the crash files will be assisting TAC to ge to the root cause.

Turns out I found a bug in the OS.

They had me disable the AMSDU setting in the Stateful Firewall configs and everything has been great.

I've been told that this bug will be fixed in the upcoming release.
