AP-224 with AP-ANT-16

Hi Friends,

I have a bunch of AP-224 and the external antenna ANT-16 and having trouble finding a good cable for them.

I would like to have a 10 meter cable and has to be plenum rated. Aruba said to check on terra-wave.com but I still can't find anything that matches what I need.

If someone has any experience with this subject, please help.

Thanks,

Anoison is one of our Ecosystem Partners for cables - http://www.anoison.com/products/RF_Cable_Assembly/

You can look at other sources as well (Vetev/Terrawave). The issue you will hit is that 10m RF cables will result in a lot of loss (depending on the type of cable you select). I did find this at Terrawave/Ventev

http://www.terra-wave.com/shop/25-tws240-rpsma-jack-to-rpsma-plug-cable-assembly-p-1903.html

Just note that LMR240 will be super high loss (7-8dB of loss in both Tx and Rx), and LMR400 is slightly better at ~4dB of loss for 30'/10m.

Your best bet is to reach out to each company directly as most cables (US) are done at 5', 10', 25' and 50ft. if you really need 10m it will likely need to be custom, and they would need to build, test, and certify the cable. And since you need or require Plenum, that likely requires different jacket material and content within the cables which will raise the cost as well.

The better the cable, the higher the cost. For LMR400, using this for 50' (http://www.terra-wave.com/shop/50-tws400-sma-plug-to-sma-jack-cable-assembly-p-2681.html), that's $75 per cable, and you will need three cables per antenna. This is likely NOT plenum rated, so costs will go up.

Re: AP-224 with AP-ANT-16

Jerrod,

I'm mounting these antennas on a hard ceiling wall but having a hard time finding a mount that works. I checked on oberonwireless.com but can't find anything good for a hard ceiling.

Have you seen any mount other than the included one or what's on oberon?

Thanks,

Re: AP-224 with AP-ANT-16

I'm not sure what a hard ceiling wall is :)

The ANT-16 is designed to be mounted, clipped to a ceiling rail, but there's no reason why you couldn't drill small holes in the corners and sink them in with screws/anchors into something like a T-rail. you just have to make sure you provide enough clearance for the antenna cabless coming out the back so that they don't get bent or crimped.
