AP-277 Point-to-Point Mesh Distance

Working with a customer who previously had (3) MST200's and an IAP-275 in a mesh setup, with the IAP-275 as the Mesh Portal. The MST200's were recently replaced with IAP-277's and are no longer connecting via Mesh. Distance between 277's and 275 is roughly 200 yards with direct line of sight. A couple questions:

1. Is mesh supported on IAP-277's?

2. Is 200 yards a feasible distance to use IAP-277's with their integrated antennas? I know the 275 gives a decent amount of omni-directional coverage, but is it enough?

Thanks.

1. Yes IAP 277 supports meshing

2. With a 6.5 dBi antenna (integrated with AP-277) and a clear LOS, 180-200 meters should work well (though your Bandwidth requirements will be the deciding factor).

You can use below link to calculate link budget:

AP specific details to fill in link budget can be found from datasheet here:

Re: AP-277 Point-to-Point Mesh Distance

Hi Jibran,

Thanks for the helpful response.

What are the easy possible means to determine the "Reciever Sensitivities" of the different client devices that connects on to the WLAN? The default on the proxim calculator link is at -83 dBm.
