Hi,

What is the max that the smart rate port can go up to? is it 5Gb or 2.5Gb?

Datasheet says 5Gb and the installation guide below says 2.5 and I'm not sure which one to belive!!

What is possible and what is practical are two different things.

The AP 335 will smartrate auto-negotiate at 2.5gig, but it can be set manually for 5 gig.  Just like any other wired technology with increased rates, using the increased 5gig rate will shorten the usable cable length, so while it is possible, it is not always practical.

Just a update to this post from my observations. I have 10 Aruba IAP-335 in a deployment with a Aruba 5412r zl2 switch with Smart Rate modules and they are negotiating at 5G NBASE-T.

They were previously negotiating at 2.5G NBASE-T before the 6.5.4.2 firmware upgrade on the IAP-335.
