AP Ceiling Rail Mounts

We are currently starting a deployment where most of the APs are going to be ceiling mounted.

However, the tiles in these building are thicker than typical ceiling tiles. They go about 1/4 inch below the drop-ceiling rails.

The clips that come with the APs are designed for tiles that are flat with the rails so, we are unable to use them without having the tiles pushed up whereever there is an AP.

Are there any 3rd party resources that make ceiling-rail mounts that will work in this scenario and that will work with Aruba APs?

Thanks,

Re: AP Ceiling Rail Mounts

The Aruba AP ceiling mounts are custom parts; I do not believe any 3rd party solutions exist to the problem you describe. You may have to consider making small cut-outs from the ceiling tiles to accomodate the existing clips.

We ran into the same issue and we did exactly that. We traced the tile mount and then shaved a small chunk out. Facilities wasn't overly happy about it, but we don't plan on moving the AP's anytime soon.

What ap type are you using? The 105 has a mount kit that has a mount for ceiling tiles that are below the rail. Its the mnt-c part. Is it still too thick with that part as well?

Re: AP Ceiling Rail Mounts

We ran into the same situation and found it was easier to mount the APs in the middle of the ceiling tiles. We used AP-105 which are very light and used toggle bolts to secure the mounts to the tiles.
