    Hi ,

Can anyone clarify my below doubt.

"""When the AP had discovered the controller’s IP address, it sends “Hello” (PAPI) message to controller which
contains AP type, name, group, build string etc."""

As per above statement :  If i have new AP ,   will it have preconfigured AP type and group ?
if it does not have AP type and group then what AP will send in "Hello" message.

    Appreciate your quick response.

A new AP has its mac address as its name and "default" as its ap group.

    Thanks Joseph.

I know we can configure AP group using "setenv group <group-name"" , is there any similar setenv command for configuring AP name .

You can see a list of those commands here:  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Access-Points/printenv-command-on-AP-s/td-p/2420

Very few people enter the console to make those changes.  Users normally wait until the access point contacts the controller and they change the name and ap group using configuration> Wireless> AP Installation.
