I have been told that the AP105 initially starts up on channel 124 in the 5GHz band when first powered on. Is this the same for all current models of APs?

That does not seem correct to me. What channel the AP will come up on depends on supported channels (regulatory) and software configuration (supported channel set and how actual channels are selected: manual or ARM).

Where did you get this info?

The country code set is GB, for United Kingdom, and the information given to me was from TAC as part of an investigation. Any information regarding how it makes its choice is useful, if it does not like channel 124 does it pick another one at random, does it cycle through the channels moving up or down. Is ARM controlling the channel selection when the AP first boots up bearing in mind this is a persistent RAP and may not have a connection to the controller.

    From the Engineering team:

Last used channel is saved on the AP flash and is used the next time

Else a random channel (which will be corrected by ARM) after some backoff
