Hi,

 

I am having problems accessing AP boot commands on an AP274 from within the console. Please see the below console output.

AP has just come out of the box with only a power injector providing PoE, it is not currently connected to a switch.

 

Any ideas on this please? I'd expect these commands to work.

What are you trying to do? You already have a controller online? The AP is getting DHCP and has a way to discover the controller?

Thanks for the quick reply - I want to give it a static IP address and Master controller IP address.

 

But that's not the point, a simple 'printenv' is not giving the AP config - Why??

when you issue a 'factory reset' (or 'factory default', I can't remember), as well as a 'clear os' what is the output? May have to reach out to TAC...

I have another AP 274 unboxed - I am using them for a Mesh. The same is happening on the second one too.

 

What are the chances of this happening to two different AP 274s? Or am I being a numpty and it needs to talk to a controller first before those commands become active?

trying printenv should display regardless of if it's new or not. 'clear os' (with the space) should wipe the current OS. I can't remember if it's factory_default, factory reset, etc (you should be able to do factory ?). 

 

That it's both seems odd and very unlikely...am wondering if it's the serial connection not sending the right strings like it should. You have the driver from the support site, through a regular USB port and cable? What is the computer, host os, and software used?

Ok fixed it - Very simple too :)

 

My Surface needed a restart after installing the USB driver - All is now Ok after the restart and I can see all AP boot commands.

This is strange. I have an AP 274 doing the same thing. Not accepting AP-Boot parameters. Its only this AP 274 that I am having a problem with. I tried rebooting after installing the driver, no fix

Every command I type it says:

"Unknown Command" lol

I found that using the driver on Windows 10 was very hit and miss. In the end I installed the driver on a Windows 7 PC and it worked 100% of the time.

Had the same problem myself. Cleared it by changing my serial settings.
With 'Flow Control' set to 'XON/XOFF' , and typing 'help' I would get the bizarre reply 
Unknown command 'help' - try 'help'
Switching 'Flow Control' to 'None' clears the issue and the console works as expected.
For the record, I connect successfully using 9600 baud, 8 data bits,1 stop bit, no parity and no flow control on putty running on Windows 10.
