Are there any antenna's in Aruba that operate dual band simultanously?

From what I have explored so far, there are few antennas that are dual band capable but it works only on a single radio at a time based on the AP port that it is connected to! eg. D100.

 

This will leave us in a situation where in we have to mount 2 antenna's per outdoor AP. Just curious if we can have an antenna in Aruba which connects on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz ports on an AP and through that single antenna we can avail both the radios?

That is because the AP has separate connectors for each radio (for the outdoor AP's). This gives you the flexibility to select a different antenna for each radio, which is needed if you have very directional antenna's that typically don't come in dual-band.

 

If you plan to mount an AP-274 with D100, you probably are better off with the AP-277 which is 80 degrees vs 90 for the D100. The built-in antenna reduces the cost for mounting.

 

If you really want to mount a single external antenna, you might find third-party diplexers/combiners that combine the two radios into a single dual-band antenna output. You will need one diplexer per antenna chain, so 3 for an AP-274.

Also are there any "third party" antenna's that are recommended by Aruba to serve the purpose.

 

The whole idea is for aesthetic reasons we can't have two antenna's per AP so would want to use one Antenna that operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultanously.

Which AP(s) and what is the use case?

This is for the 274 APs.

The reason is we need to have the APs on highly aesthetically appealing light poles.

Allowed for us is to have just one Antenna on these light poles per AP, rather then two Antennas. Thus looking out for a solution that we could meet from Aruba or Aruba's recommended third party components.

AP-277 would be the preferred approach by far.

Otherwise 9 cables 3 diplexers + antenna. That will NOT be very aesthetic

Agreed. The concern is with the specification mandates the usage of Outdoor APs with external Antennas only. No integerated antennas are allowed with Outdoor APs.

Bid both. There is a duplexer from L-COM that the partner can procure. The 277 will significantly outperform the 274 with cables + duplexers
