I have a new Aruba deployment running mostly 205s in the hallways of dorm rooms. I am seeing issues where my students are getting limited access on their wifi signal and losing all network connectivity. The controller informs me of Internal Deauth and Station has roamed to another AP. Disconnecting/Reconnecting or waiting about 5 minutes seems to give them connectivity back. Has anyone seen any similar issues or have any idea?

    Controllers are 7220s running 6.4.2.2

Currently utilizing one SSID for the entire student population with multiple AP groups per building.

There is plenty more information needed.

    What types of clients?

How wide are your 5ghz channels?

How far apart are the access points?

What is the min and max power of your access points?

Are they mounted on the ceiling or the wall?

Do you have drop broadcast and multicast enabled?

Typically hall mounting access points is not advised because very little of the rf gets into the actual rooms and increasing the power to overcome this causes cochannel interference.  Please see the document here :

A radio profile has 20 mhz selected but I do see 20,40 and 80 on my dashboard

How far apart are the access points?

    25-30 Feet

What is the min and max power of your access points?

    15 min 18 max

    Ceiling mounted

Do you have drop broadcast and multicast enabled?

    It is enabled

Forgive me I am still getting used to the products.

    chris,

It does not seem too crazy, besides the distances between the access points

At 25 to 30 feet, that might be too close line-of-sight.  Look on the dashboard of the controller to see what the RF utilization is for those access points.  You may have to consider moving some access points into the dorm rooms for better coverage and less interference.

Channel utilization currently is very low but most students are still probably still sleeping or out in class.

Channel qualitiy is in the 90s for everyone of them.

I'll look back during peak times tonight.

    chris-trojan,

Do you have Airwave so that you can look back in time at the channel utilization at peak times.

    chris-trojan,

You can also sign up for a 90-day eval of Airwave so that you can get troubleshooting info...

Still in progress. We will possibly be getting Airwave setup this week. We also will be performing some site surveys. The TAC cases we have open haven't shown us any positive results. We are having our SE come down this week. Most of the changes TAC was doing was related to EIRP rates and toggling client match on/off. :\

How long have the controllers/APs been up for?  Do you use fast failover, and has that happenned to the APs?  We had a swarm of these problems appear a couple weeks ago that all went away after a reboot.

My Issue has been resolved, AP's were not configured properly, channel 1 & channel 6 were not added to the AP hence when device moves to that channel it wont communicate.

    Thanks Team for support.
