I have aruba 135 with two SSID's. One is an Employee and the other one is Guest. I can connted to both of them but no internet access. I can only get to the Aruba GUI. Employee SSID gets ip address from the network assigned ( cisco switch), and the Guest SSID is Virtual Controlled Assigned. On the Employee SSID I get some 169.254.x.x ip address, when I should be getting 10.10.x.x ip address, and on the Guest SSID I am getting 192.168.x.x ip address which should be fine. On the Employee SSID I am also getting an alert "DHCP request timed out". Any advice on how to get this fixed. See attachment (Employee SSID).

Did you configured the ip helper on the Switch???

If you are configuring for example

In your switch core you have like 5 Interface vlan,  your AP is on vlan 10 but the dhcp server is on vlan 15 you need to configure the ip helper on the switch, i mean that if you are trunking the vlan from the IAP to the swtich.

If you are plugging the IAP to a L2 switch you need to make sure that the VLAN which the IAP is can reach the swtich core which got the interface vlans, on the switch core configure the ip helper pointing to the dhcp server.

    hope that helps

    Cheers

    Carlos

What OS do you have installed ?

What are you using as your DHCP server ? if it is the switch ?

Can the IAP get an IP on the VLAN you are using for the Employee SSID ?

The cisco switch which the IAP is connected to is a DHCP server. If I would have had the DHCP server other then the switch itself then I would had to configure the IP helper.

    OS version is 6.1.3.4-3.1.0.2_36584

Have you tried assigning that same VLAN to the one of the ports on the switch and connecting your laptop to make sure you can get an IP address on wired ?

Do a show ip dhcp binding on the switch

What is that VLAN getting trunk back to the IAP ?

I am getting an ip address and the DHCP is working fine when I plug in my laptop in one of the ports.

Is that same VLAN trunked back to the IAP ?

What's the native VLAN  on that trunk ?

Also did you define that particular VLAN under the SSID setup ?

You should consider also upgrading to 6.2.x.x

Default VLAN is VLAN1 and I have defined the right VLNAN under the SSID.

Is that same VLAN you have configure on the switch to support the IP DHCP POOL ?

Do you have a SVI created for that VLAN on the switch ?

I have the same vlan for the DHCP pool and there is no SVI on the switch.

What you need to do is create an SVI and I assigned it the default router address you set on the pool :

    EMPLOYEE-DHCP-POOL
    subnet 10.10.10.0 netmask 255.255.255.0
    default router 10.10.10.1

    interface VLAN 1

    ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

interface fa 0/0 >>>>>>Connection to IAP

    swichport trunk native vlan 1
