ArubaOS 8.0 is a major release and incorporates features which are not compatible with earlier releases. Please review release notes and consult your local Aruba representative before upgrading live production networks. Re: Aruba Controller 6500 upgrade

What do you mean with 6500 controller? AOS8 is only supported on 7000, so older generation (do you mean 6000-M3?) doesnt even have the software.

The ArubaOS 8.0 software upgrade completely wipes the configuration of your device, so it is not an upgrade.  It is considerably different from ArubaOS 6.x, so you should have a lab controller to install it on

The ArubaOS 8.0 software upgrade completely wipes the configuration of your existing controller, so it is not an in-place upgrade.  It is considerably different from ArubaOS 6.x, so you should have a lab controller to install it on FIRST before deploying it.
