Aruba Controllers in different data centers running VRRP over OTV or similar layer2 connectivity.

We have a pair of Aruba controllers running our AP's.  We also have 2 different data centers geographically separated.  Sites local to each datacenter (same state) will be getting wireless AP's.  Has anyone ever placed a single controller in multiple data centers, then used OTV or similar layer 2 connectivity between the data centers to allow VRRP to run between the controllers?  My plan would be to go active/active on the controllers having the local state AP's pointing to their closest controller as primary.

Just thinking it out... Interested to hear if anyone has ever tried this or why it might be a bad idea.  I'd expect about 12ms roundtrip response times between the 2 data centers.

    Thanks

Have you considered doing master-local with HA instead of using VRRP.

Just note that if you are running master/master-backup, that the master-backup (when in that role) cannot terminate APs. You didn't state the role your two controllers are in, but that should be known.

The rest of it wholly depends on how well the emulated L2 pathing works in your environment.
