    Hello Airheads Community,

I want to ask you a question regarding the upgrade of Aruba 3200 Mobility Controller with a RAP design, (RAPs -  25 AP-105 attached to the controller).

Currently the Aruba 3200 Mobility Controller is on version 6.2.1.0, I want to know if there are any upgrades available and how I can upgrade the controller successfully and the Remote Access Points too if needed.

    Thanks in advance,

    Best Regards,

    Matteo

    Hi

    Good evening.

    A. Yep,there are newer AOS available for the A3200 controller

(Please be aware that if u got XM version OR if u installed extra memory kit - And it's seems u do,because your are using version 6.2.1.0) you are able to upgraded even to the lastest os 6.4.2.4 (as far as i aware)

*in order to download lastest AOS - go to aruba support site or contact your aruba reseller/partner *

    B. You RAP(Remote AP'S) units will upgraded from the controller automatcillty (As long as the RAP and your controller got connectivity UDP4500/UDP69)

    Hi kdisc98,

Sorry but we don't have the extra memory kit, so that will be a problem for the upgrade?

Can you suggest me a pre-check list in order to successfully upgrade the Wireless infrastructure ?

    Thanks in advance,

     http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Unified-Wired-Wireless-Access/How-can-I-tell-if-a-3200-has-been-upgraded-to-1GB-of-memory-or/td-p/96067

The 6.2 + 6.3 featuers requied eXtra Memory.

Without the XM - your top AOS build will be 6.1.X.X (You also got 6.2.x installed today as you wrote so upgrade to the lastest 6.2.X.X out there)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Aruba 3200
    – The 3200 is getting low on free memory due to ever
    expanding feature set of ArubaOS.
    – Aruba has released an “XM” (extra memory) version of the
3200 also a field kit (3200-MEM-UG) where you can upgrade
    the memory yourself
    • No you can’t use your own memory from local PC shop !
    – Non upgraded 3200 will not be supported for ArubaOS 6.2

6.2 is no longer officially supported on a 3200 without the memory upgrade.

ArubaOS 6.2.x is supported only on the newer MIPS controllers (7200 Series, M3, 3400, 3600, 600 Series,
3200XM, and any 3200 with its memory upgraded using 3200-MEM-UG kit).

Legacy PPC controllers (200, 800, 2400, SC1 and SC2) and 3200 (default memory) are not supported. DO
NOT upgrade to 6.2.x if your deployments contain a mix of MIPS and PPC controllers in a master-local
    setup.

Upon upgrade to ArubaOS 6.2, the internal AP of the 651 controller will be disabled. The controller will
then operate as a 650 controller.

Sorry, can you confirm that the memory kit is present by the following output so i'm able to upgrade it to the version 6.3.1.15?

    #show memory

Memory (Kb): total: 695260, used: 438652, free: 256608

Processor XLR 508 (revision C4) with 1190M bytes of memory.
32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
512M bytes of Supervisor Card System flash (model=CF 512MB).

    from an old thread:

Show memory will tell you if it has been upgraded:  If total memory is more than 500k, it has been upgraded

    (192.168.1.3) #show memory
Memory (Kb): total: 691968, used: 461284, free: 230684

so i would say you are fine.
