I tftp'ed a patch AOS ver to the controller (3400).  The AOS C_ArubaOS_MMC_6.1.3.5_36216 shows up in flash via the "dir" command:

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 40384000 Dec 7 13:32 C_ArubaOS_MMC_6.1.3.5_36216
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17078 Dec 8 21:08 default.cfg
    -rw-r--r-- 2 root root 9112 Oct 26 12:20 default.cfg.2012-10-26_20-20-00
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 1024 Sep 10 07:44 fieldCerts
    -rw-r--r-- 2 root root 9112 Oct 26 12:20 original.cfg
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root nogroup 3047425 Dec 7 07:26 post.data
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root nogroup 17078 Dec 7 07:15 startup
    drwx------ 2 root root 1024 Sep 10 07:43 tpm

But not on either partition 0 or 1

    (SF-Aruba-Master) #show image version
    ----------------------------------
    Partition : 0:0 (/dev/hda1)
Software Version : ArubaOS 6.1.3.1 (Digitally Signed - Production Build)
    Build number : 32786
    Label : 32786
    Built on : Tue Mar 13 00:28:42 PDT 2012
    ----------------------------------
    Partition : 0:1 (/dev/hda2) **Default boot**
Software Version : ArubaOS 6.1.3.1 (Digitally Signed - Production Build)
    Build number : 32786
    Label : 32786
    Built on : Tue Mar 13 00:28:42 PDT 2012

In addition the show storage command does not reveal hda1 or 2.

    (SF-Aruba-Master) #show storage
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
    none 300.0M 2.3M 297.7M 1% /tmp
    /dev/hda3 200.6M 93.5M 96.8M 49% /flash

So, how do I get the controller to boot  C_ArubaOS_MMC_6.1.3.5_36216?

    Thanks,

    rafael

    Seems it didnt upload correctly...

Did you try uploading it again to the partition 0/0?

It should appear on show image verion otherwise it wont boot from that firmware you uploading...

It has happened to me that i try to upload the image but then it seems that it didnt upload so i try again and it works...

When that happened never checked the dirs... so i dont know if its the same problem...

But as long as you got your backups and also you dont touch the partition 0:1 you should be fine to try it again on the partition 0:0

You need to upload it using Maintenence> Image Management> , NOT Copy Files...    "Copy files" copies it like a regular file, NOT a system image.

Maybe he FTP or TFTP the file using the image managment to upgarde it... i have done it with no issue to upgrade.

Also it has happened to me but really really unusual that i try to upload it for example uploading the file via browsing  and i get the same situation of him that i dont see the image on the show image but i have not verified if its on the dir.... so i dont know if its the same case...

And when that happens i just try again and well it works.

Though never happened when upgrading it with the TFTP.

    Cheers

    Carlos

    copy tftp: <ip address> <filename> system: partion 1 or 2

Yea, I'll have to wait to hear back from TAC as I just start a successful FTP and guess what:

    (SF-Aruba-Master) #dir

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root nogroup 14965655 Dec 9 11:54 C_ArubaOS_MMC_6.1.3.5_36216

    drwx------ 2 root root 1024 Sep 10 07:43 tpm

    Its back in flash!!!

    Thanks for your help.

The file you copied before is showing up in the flash.  If you "delete file: <filename>" that will remove it.

You should try to use the copy ftp: <ftp ip address>  instead of tftp because some tftp servers have a fixed limit that is exceeded by current filesizes.  "show image version" will tell you if you upgraded or not.  You can use the GUI to upload of course, but you get better feedback on the commandline.

    Here is the FTP syntax:

copy ftp: 192.168.1.3 ftusername C_ArubaOS_MMC_6.1.3.5_36216 system: partition 1

It should either tell you bad username or password, or timeout, because your FTP is not running, or you have a firewall.  It should not end up in flash where you can type "DIR" to see it.

  • 27.  RE: C-Build Upgrade Issues

    Posted Dec 09, 2012 02:07 PM

    copy tftp: <tftphost> <image filename> system: partition <0|1>

    The command is that one

so in the end of the line you put 0 or 1

in this case you put it on partition which is NOT The default one which is partition 0 i think

Then you check  with show image version
