Captive Portal using local database question

We are currently providing guest access at remote sites through a RAP-5WG.  In order to prevent the entire neighborhood from accessing we made a user account on the local database and provided the sites with the username/password to provide to users who want access.

My question is, can multiple users use this single username/password to access the guest network at the same time?  Or will each guest user need a seperate username/password?

Yes, multiple users can use the same username and password, unless you enable the "Allow only one active user session" option in the Captive Portal Authentication Profile.

I just checked the Captive Portal Authentication profile and I don't see this option.  Can you tell me exactly where this option is available?  Thanks.

I apologize.  What version of ArubaOS do you have?

Only supported on ArubaOS 5.x and above.  Any reason you are still on Version 3.3.2.18-rn-3.1.3?

So does this mean that only one user can log in at a time with that username/password?

We have a big environment that upgrades are not easy to do without bringing alot of people down.  We are planning the upgrade right now to avoid other issues as well.

Only one user with that username, only through captive portal.

Just to verify, on the current 3 code that we are on, using the internal db, only one user can use the username/password at a time?  With the newer code 5/6, multiple users can use the same username/password?  All through Captive Portal of course.

Any device can attach to the network with a valid username and password.  There is an option in 5.x and above to not allow users to login with a username that already exists in the user table.
