    Hi,

     

    Just hoping someone can clarify what happens in the event of a Licence Master failing in a centralised licensing model?

     

    Assuming we're talking all masters topology with no licence server redundancy, if the master server fails, what happens to the licensing clients? do they retain their licences until reboot or do they timeout and stop servicing the connected APs?

    If the license server is not reachable, the license client will keeps its
    license for 30 days.

    Need clarification on this

     

    If the setup only has 2 local system and set as Primary License server and backup license server.

     

    Controller acting as Primary License server - DOWN.

     

    Controller acting backup license server will retain the shared license limit as well as the VRRP ip.

     

    since there is no other controller, does the backup licese server limit subject to 30 days limit ?

    I read this statement on the user-guide 

     

    "If the primary licensing server fails, the controller acting as a backup license server will retain the shared license limits until the backup server reboots."

     

    Assuming the setup is master and backupmaster, enabled centralised licensing. The primary server has crashed. The backup has become the new primary. As per the above statement will the backup license server lose the shared license limts, if it reboot?

    it was mentioned from the TAC that the functionality was changed from the 6.3.1.3 by the below bug fix.

     

    87424

    Symptom: The licenses on a standby master switch causing the configuration on the local switch to be lost. Caching the master switch's license limits on the standby switch for a maximum of 30 days resolved this issue.
    Scenario: This issue occurred when the standby comes up before the master after a reboot. This may also occur in an all master-local topology when running AOS-W 6.3 or later.
