Change in regulatory ap-allowed channels for AP225 but not older models

I have recently seen that China has given approval for additional channels in the 5GHz band, specifically channels 36-64.  And mexico now seems to allow channel 100-140 as well.

However, these new channels only seems to be available for the AP225, and probably other newer ones as well.  Is it likely that these new available channels will be supported on the older APs such as the 105, 135 and 125?  I guess this is down to some sort of regulatory approval, but would be good to know if this is imminent or not.

Some output below, where you can see the difference.

We're adding support for the additional channels for Mexico on AP-10x and AP-13x in a future SW release (not on AP-12x; the platform is EOS).

For China, the situation is more complicated. Newer platforms have support for 36-64, but it is not as easy (if at all possible) to add support for new channels on existing platforms. This may require a full re-certification, which we're not planning to do.

Thanks Onno.

Appreciate the AP12x is EOS, but any chance support for those channels can be requested for MX?

Michael,

I'm afraid not. There's real cost associated with doing this, and we can't justify that for a platform that's EOS.

Thanks,

Got it.  No worries.
