    Hello all,

Now I know that some people have managed to get their chromecasts up and running on 6.4 but I am having no luck.  As you can see from the copy/paste below, I have everything turned on.  Everything is also on the same VLAN... can anyone point out where I went wrong?

Can you share your user table details with the Chromecast and your client visible?

    show user | include <mac1,mac2>

Then run "show rights" to view the firewall rules for those roles

    show rights <name-of-chromecast-role>

    show rights <name-of-client-role>

Sorry.  I should have mentioned I am only running IAPs.  A 225 and 115 to be exact.  The 225 is acting as the Master Controller so no rights or even users in this case.

Sorry for the confusion on IAP vs. Controller.  What version of Instant are you running?  Your output shows "googlecast" as Enabled but not Chromecast.  (output from 6.4.2.0-4.1.1.0_46028 below).

Also, is the Chromecast connected to a network on the IAP?      Is the client also on the IAP?  If not, could there be a wired device interfering with broadcast/multicast traffic?

My Results from an IAP running 6.4.2.

So, I did troubleshooting a bit backwards here and eventually found out that my SRX 210 was the issue as it didn't have multicast enabled on it and that basically told the Chromecast to take a flying leap.

The reason I missed this is I had Juniper APs and a controller providing me wireless and for some reason that handled any wifi multicast traffic-- it never touched the SRX.

Either way. It looks to be fixed (as well as several other devices that were giving me trouble just popped up as working) so I am pleased.

Thank you for the prompt reply!

    OK, glad it worked out.
