    Hi,

I'm currently working as network engineer specializing in routing and switching. part of my job is to manage 2800 aruba AP. I got this issue and it's quite affecting a random machine.

Issue: Laptop is associated to Aruba AP, it says connected but limited connectivity. When I check the OV I can see that the master controller sees the machine. Information seen includes mac-address and windows platform only. IP address is left blank. I also check using cli but same thing, only mac-address. The funny thing is, our helpdesk alraedy reformatted the laptop twice. It's really weird, connected but it's not getting IP address from ip address pool.

Anyone from you who encountered this issue? Last time I changed something from registry, this time around doesnt help.  I even put static ip to machine but still cannot access internet. Wireless NIC card is updated to its latest driver running windows 7. It affect different laptop models [HP , Lenovo etc...]

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot,

    Avila

    Hi Clembo,

Also, please see the logs below. The machine is associated but has no ip address. For now I still don't know how to resolve this issue.

Have you checked that a DHCP server exists in VLAN 634 or there is an 'ip helper' defined on that VLAN pointing at the appropriate DHCP server?

If DHCP is running on the Aruba controller, does the controller have an IP interface in VLAN634?

    Is the DHCP range full?

    Hi David,

thanks for your response. Definitely I have that in mind already but quite not be an issue. I have a class B subnet on that VLAN. It should be sufficient for the entire campus. ip helper should also be not an issue otherwise the entire campus will not be able to connect to our wireless network. We have almost 20,000 users; this issue only affects a random of  6 machines. I still dont have any resolution for this issue, i did something on the registry, un-installed the driver and rebooted and let it install itself, upgraded to the latest driver and even reformatted the machine but still cannot get an ip address. it is connected but it doesnt have an ip address. You can check it with the logs I posted earlier.

Anyone from you guys experiencing the same issue?

    Thanks a lot,

    Avil

If you want Aruba support, you should open a TAC (technical support case).  This forum is best-effort.

What encryption are you using on that SSID, and did the device ever get an ip address?
