Clients showing up as VHT-80

    Hi:

Several users in a dorm are complaining of being disconnected from the network intermittently.

It looks like some (if not all) of those users show a radio type of 802.11a-VHT-80.

    I'm running 6.3 and AP-225's but I didn't think I could run 80Mhz channels until I get to 6.4?

On my 802.11a Radio profile, I've got 20Mhz channels selected.

How do I limit the channel bandwidth, to see if that helps the problem? Is there a best practice, when running AP225's with 6.3?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Do you have 80 MHz support unchecked under your ARM profile?

    Thanks, Tim.

    I just unchecked it.

Do you know if AP's need a reboot for this to take effect?

Actually, I found that last answer.

    My clients re-associated w/ 40Mhz channels.

    Thanks.

But actually, I'm still confused about something...

I have 20Mhz channel width selected on my RF profiles.

Why would I still be seeing 40Mhz in use?

    Thanks.

Make sure you also disabled it at the HT SSID Profile

The 40 Mhz will be determine by the HT in the radio profile and also enabling the 40 Mhz channel usage in the HT SSID Profile

Change the "Allowed bands for 40 MHz" to none.

    Thanks.

I've got another question on 20 vs. 40 Mhz channels, but I'll start a new post for that.
