Does anyone have any quantative data on the limits of the controller acting as a DHCP server?  For example, what is too big of an address pool/user base?  I'd rather not do trial by error.

256 users, tops.  Only good for small guest network, IMHO.

Just for the record for my client who may want to push those limits, does anyone know what the symptoms are when the DHCP processes are over-taxed?  Is it simply a matter of lease requests get missed, or can it have detrimental affects on other controller processes.

It manifests itself as clients not getting ip addresses randomly.  If you have to configure more than one /24 range, you will not be comfortable.  The internal DHCP server is definitely not enterprise class.  For guests it is fine, but for employees, use an external DHCP server that the IT team is familiar with cand an can troubleshoot clients, create reservations, etc, just like they do for wired.

No. Nothing changed or added to internal dhcp server.
