Hi, we have 2 controllers. What is the pros & cons if configuring two controllers as Master/Slave or Master/local? Thanks in advance.

There is quite a few reasons in terms of pros and cons when configuring controller redundancy with 2 controllers.

Master/Master Backup = Uses VRRP and will only work in a L2 domain.

Master/Local = Will work in a L2/L3 domain but AP's will rebootstrap to establish tunnels.
HA Group = Works over L3, GRE tunnels already established so fastest fail over.

Take a look at the Campus WLAN Redundancy VRD (2017) for further information.

Thanks for your kind reply. If considering ap load sharing, should we choose master/local?

If your environment is L3 separated you can use Master/Local with a HA
    group as well.

Then need 2 pair controllers?  Master and local controllers both can support same set of AP , right?

Yes, you can perfectly set HA up with a master+local setup.

This doesn't limit your HA setup either, you can do any combination of active, standby and or dual.

You will need 2 controllers regardless of any redudacy model. Correct, the AP will need to support the firmware that the Local is running. The Local controllers will need to be part of the same deployment. Just a note a Standby Master controller cannot terminate AP's, only AP GRE tunnels when HA is enabled.

Thank both you. Have a good day.
