Hi All,

I have two 7200 controller in active standby mode with vrrp configured.

I am planning to upgrade it this month. As vrrp required two controller image in same version so I am bit confused.

Shall I upgrade both the controller at once ?

Why don't you enable centralised Image management on the Master. BTW VRRP will not get effected with Image mismatch, only Master standby will get effected.

So I think first I have to upgrade backup controller and then Master right ?

HI Rana,

Either way will do but if you have Local controllers deployed, as a best practice upgrade the Standby first and then Master.

1. Upgrade the image of backup partition of Standby

2. Upgrade the Image of Backup partition of Master

3. Enable " AP Image Preload" if you want to reduce the down time

4. Reload both the controllers.

Note : don't forget to take the flash back up of the master before doing the above.

I am planning to upgrade the master controller first so all the APs will go to backup master and after that I will upgarde backup master, so again all the AP will come back to master controller.

Is it correct way ?

I dont have local controller.

Yes Rana,

That will work but ensure that you have taken Flash backup before doing all.
