DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

I have about 14 new 7200 controllers that I'm installing. Each device will be a local controller in a building LAN. Each one will have 3 DHCP pools. The pools are built exactly the same on each controller. I have completed the configuration and installation of 2 controllers.

While adding the DHCP pools on the 3rd controller, I got the strange error which is attached. Can someone take a look and let me know what may be causing the error. You'll see that the pool is created and all info saved except the network address and its mask. It remains 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0. When I attept to change it, I get the attached error.

Thanks for your help,

Guru Elite

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

If you remove the pool and re-add it, do you still get the error? Is it only when modifying the existing?

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

If happened during the original creation.

I am out of the office for the rest of today but will remove and attempt to re-add first thing tomorrow.

Thank you,

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

The 7210 can serve a maximum of 5120 DHCP addresses.   You already have your Student-WiFi pool that has 3831 addresses.  Your new pool has 3583; which exceeds the 5120 supported leases on the 7210.

From the 6.3 release notes:

You can also run show ip dhcp statistics to see a table of pools and the number of leases.

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

I underst what you're saying but is there a reason the first 2 controllers worked without a hitch???

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

Are they all 7210s?  Were they upgraded to 6.3 after the DHCP scopes were created?    If they were, they'd still be present, but would still be capped by the 5120 number.

Run the following on one of the other controllers and share the result:

show ip dhcp statistics

show ip dhcp database

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

They are all 7210s.

I will run the commands and post them when I get back to work tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!!!

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

What you will notice Mark is that you will see that the other pools will be 0 available addresses.

With 6.3 you are limited in terms of on controller DHCP. You will need to use an external DHCP server in your case.

Re: DHCP Error on 7200 Controller

You were correct. It allowed me to add the pool in the previous controller. However, they are not all truely avilable.

Thanks for your help!!!!
