    Hi ,We have DELL powerconenct 7210 controller  running on 6.3.1.3 image.This controller is used for Remote access (RAP) Ap feature with W-IAP109 AP.This IAP is converted to RAP to associate with the controller. I would like to upgrade this controller with lates ios-6.4.4.8/6.4.4.9.Kindly advise on following:-

    1)is upgrading controller with new ios would automatically upgrade RAP's too or do we need to upgrade RAP,s  individually  before upgrading controller?

    2)Is  ios Dell_AOS_72xx_6.4.4.8_55228  compatible with the controller and AP model.

    Thanks colin,So that means i can go ahead and upgrade controller(7200) with the new ios-6.4.4.8 and IAP's will autoupgrade after reboot.Which ios you suggest 6.4.4.8 or 6.4.4.9?

    Also we have master  controller on active/standby mode.Is below procedure  the better way to upgrade? :-

    1)Failolver AP's to standby by shutting vrrp instance on active,this will make standby as primary.

    2)Upgrade primary(now standby) with new ios,unshut vrrp instance and

    failover Ap's to this device.

    3)Same procedure for standby.

    If failover is working correctly, I would upgrade both and reboot at the same time.  I would do a backup flash of both controllers first, however...

    Hi Conal,

      Thanks a lot for your response.I got couple of questions to give me enough confidence to go ahead with upgrade.Sorry to annoy you.

    1)For upgrading from  ios release  6.3.1.3 to 6.4.4.9 ios do i need to go for interim ios release before going for 6.4.4.9.

     2)Is preload image feature for RAP advisable.Can i use this feature to minimise downtime.

    2. There is little difference in downtime when using preload or not, because the AP still has to reboot. Don't bother using it with a rap.

    Hi ,Thanks for the advise.

     1) I have earlier version ios in nonboot partition.Do i need to delete it  before image transfer as i have ennough memory in flash.

    2) We have Airwave on version 7.7.9 where contoller and AP have been added for read only monitoring(up/down mail alert).After upgrdation of controller and AP to 7.4.4.9 version is Airwave continue to monitor ?

    Is there need to upgrade Airwave before upgrading controller?

    2.  No, you don't have to upgrade Airwave.
