'Hot Swap' AP's at remote location - how are licences managed?

Dear Community,

We are planning to install an Aruba based WLAN at one of our clients remote sites. Due to the location and importance of uptime, they would like us to keep around 10 AP's spare in the store room onsite and IF one goes down we replace staright away.

Now, this is not the first WLAN we've installed but it is the first Aruba one. With our other cloud based AP's we've used in the past, we can simply add the spare AP and swap over licences.

How would this work with Aruba AP's, and what would be the best way to managed the licences and quote the client clearly so that all is straight from the beginning.

Many thanks all..

Re: 'Hot Swap' AP's at remote location - how are licences managed?

IAP environment in front of Aruba Central?
or controller based enviroment ?
diffrent methods.
if controller based - the AP license is on the controller , and it's none related to the AP itself it related to the amount that being managed.
If you deploy local controllers - you also may do central licensing and share license all over your controllers.
**Please share with us the deployment config in order to answer u regarding the licenses**

Re: 'Hot Swap' AP's at remote location - how are licences managed?

so basiclly if ordering IAP - keep in mind to order Central license of EACH AP your ordering and u will be able to do the "HOT SWAP" easily . for Controller (AOS) environment , only replacing the malfunctioning AP , and the license on the controller itself - not connected to the AP itself - so it HOT SWAP.
