Devices on the network use unique identification such as mac-address.  As a use case, do you want to assign a specific IP address  every time to VIP's laptop?  Or   Do you want to categorize based on type of device..such as Apple TV or iphone or some other manufacturer...

Basically, network cannot identify the role of the use in the organization just by looking at the device. Yes, with the help of dhcp fingerprinting, we can identify the type of device..

No, we cannot reserve IP addresses for specific machines when using controller as a DHCP server.  DHCP on aruba controllers is mainly for access points and guest users

You can definitely use external dhcp server hosted on windows servers, that give an option of reserving IP address to the MAC address. But, we cannot reserve the same IP address to Wired MAC address and Wireless MAC address. You can choose two IP addresses...one for Wired and one for Wireless.

We have an knowledge base article on Aruba Support website:

Can we reserve IP addresses on the Controller’s DHCP server to be assigned to a specific mac address?
