I have 2 instant AP 225 and 205 how can I mesh on instant OS?

Hi Friend,

You can bring up a mesh link with IAP with the following method,

1. Create cluster with IAP-225 and IAP-205 and let them sync with image and configuration

2. Disable the extended SSID ( in the latest version 4.x, it is enabled)

3. you will find both the IAPs as mesh portals.

4. Remove the IAP from the Switch which you want to make mesh point and provide external power.

5. After booting, there will be a mesh link between two IAPs.

so now I have 2 ETH ports in AP-225 ,can I take a cable from the free port and connect it to another AP?

Do you know when will be aproxymately implemented "MESH" for IAP 2xx?

Instant 6.4.3.1-4.2 is now available in Early Deployment with mesh support.

I try the Instant 6.4.3.1-4.2 code with 2pcs of Instant AP-205, but it's not working. Both 2.4GHz/5GHz LED in yellow steady.

Is there any configuration need to setup? thanks!

The mesh ldart state is suspending and the 2.4GHz LED in yellow; 5GHz in green. it seem not boadcasting SSID. Please help to advise, many thanks!

Did you configure an SSID to broadcast?

Yes, the AP with wired uplink have SSID to boardcast, but the mesh point 2.4 LED in yellow 

InstantAP 2XX (802.11ac) units are not supporting mesh.

How to do mesh with other instant models:

in instantAP 1XX mesh is very simple,just add your IAP first by wire to your VC group (make sure extanded ssid is disabled) after u seeing the IAP in your middle table of AP , u may disconnect it from LAN and leave it only with AC adapter.

Give it a couple of sec/min - and suddenly you will notice the magic (in Instant versions)

The release noted of 6.4.3.1-4.2, it should support Mesh.

Starting from Instant 6.4.3.1-4.2 release, the 802.11ac Access Points such as IAP-22x, IAP-27x, IAP-21x, and IAP-20x support Mesh configuration. For more information on Mesh IAP configuration, see the Aruba Instant 6.4.3.x-4.2 User Guide.

It does support mesh.  Did you configure both access points when they were plugged into the ethernet first?

Yes, I did follow those steps, but the mesh point AP 2.4GHz LED is still in Yellow.

I waited around 10mins, then it works finally and 2.4 LED turn Green, Many Thanks!

The Yellow LED issue sometimes come up because of regulatory domains and so on.
