How can I get the automatic firmware update tab in maintenance section of VC working again. If not possible how can I load a firmware update from a firmware file on my computer. I do not see an image or file selection option on this firmware update page only sections for a URL.

    Thanks

In order to update firmware through the built-in update feature, your Instant AP's should have internet access. In the earlier 4.1.1.x releases, there is an issue with an expired certificate that prevents you from upgrading even when you have internet access.

You can get firmware for manual installation through the Aruba support portal if you have active maintenance. If you do not have active maintenance, you can get 'free firmware releases' here: http://support.arubanetworks.com/LifetimeWarrantySoftware/tabid/121/DMXModule/661/EntryId/20374/Default.aspx which should be able to update to newer 'free' versions as they come out.

Thanks for the reply. I do have extended maintenance and I have the updated firmware files. But I have no place on the VC maintenance page (under Firmware) to enter the local path for my file updates , it only has a space for URL. I'm sure the last time I did an update there was a space for entering the local path for each of my IAP units (ie 204 & 224 ), but its not there now.

If you have multiple AP platforms in a cluster, you can only update via anonymous ftp, tftp (probably best), and http.  You would have to stand up a tftp server and load firmware for both platforms and then put the tftp path for both sets of firmware for the upgrade.  You cannot just upload the files to the controller like when you had a single platform cluster.

The best reason is that multiple AP firmware cannot be stored on the VC, so access points on each platform are pointed to the URL where they are all updated at the same time.  If you only had a single platform, you could upload it to the VC, and the VC would update the others.  Since you have a multiple platform, all APs are pointed to your ftp or tftp or http URL, where they will all update directly.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Ok makes sense.

So which HTTP URL do I use, for the 224(Centaurus) & 204(Taurus) as there is a space to enter both in the VC.

The ones I have tried so far did not work.

http is only if you setup your own web server with those files.
