    Hi,

we have 2 7205 controllers running ArubaOS 6.5.4.3

We have connected an IAP 305 to a switch that only supports 802.3af.

i'm confused about the consequences. I read different things:

    • Without IPM, the USB port is disabled and transmit power of the 2.4 GHz radio chains is reduced by 3dB to 15dBm max when the AP is powered by and 802.3af PoE source
    • Without IPM, the USB port is disabled when the AP is powered by an 802.3af PoE source

When I check the tech support log of the AP, than I see that the usb port is disabled. Is this all or will the 2.4GHz radio also be limited (if more users connect and more power is drawn)?

Another thing: the amber light is on. How can I turn this off or should it be turned off if IPM is disabled (by default)?

    Thanks in advance

Where did you see that first bullet?

The only restriction on the (I)AP-305 when IPM is disabled, is that the USB port is disabled. Nothing else.

I saw in the following post (first reply):

Is there a way to remove the amber led light? Or will it be green if the IPM is enabled?

Yes, it will (should) be green when IPM is enabled and no restrictions are applied (which is typical unless you plug in a USB device).

I've enabled the IPM. My IPM list only contains disable_usb/priority:1

I rebooted the AP, but the light is still amber.

When I check the ap tech support log, I see:

    Power Status
    ------------
    Item Value
    ---- -----
    Power Supply : POE-AF
LLDP Power : Successfully negotiated at 13.0W
Current Operational State : 2.4GHz radio: No restrictions, 5GHz radio: No restrictions

There are no restrictions applied, buth the led is still amber.

    How can I solve this?
