    Posted Sep 04, 2017 12:03 AM

    Dear All,

    I have 1 controller aruba 7005 with AOS 6.5.0 and 8 iap 315 with arubaInstant OS 6.5.0,

but these IAP's after I convert to controller, these IAP's detected as airmonitor ap, even if i provisioning to group ap as AP mode,

after I upgrade firmware controller to 6.5.4, these IAP's detect as down access point, and always loop restart,

even after I upgrade firmware arubaInstant OS of these IAP's to 6.5.4, the problem still happen, detect as down AP on monitoring controller

kindly need your advice to troubleshoot it

    oh, one more,

at first initial set up of iap, i dont see my country code I usually use, SG and ID, and my controller country code is SG,

the information from IAP is if I dont see my country code, I should try to upgrade to latest firmware, but even I upgrade to 6.5.4.0 which mean latest firmware, I still dont see country code SG or ID

    kindly need your advice

Did you do the conversion process on GUI?

In the logs it seems it cant find the master

    "Done. Master is"

Maybe try with "setenv master IP"?

i just type like this :

    setenv ipaddr 10.10.10.1x

    setenv netmask 255.255.255.0

    setenv gatewayip 10.10.10.1

    should i put masterip ?

For Instant AP, the DRT is built into the firmware. However, as you want to convert to controller AP, you will need to have the DRT or proper regulatory support from the installed firmware, only there.

When you convert an IAP to AP (Controller), all configuration is lost, and everything is configured and controlled by the controller.

As you mentioned that the APs come up as Air Monitor (I assumed on the controller), that may be because the controller firmware does not support your APs in the firmware and DRT upgrade may solve that and get the APs into normal radio mode.

Follow cjoseph's advice and check why the AP does not become active on the controller.

The master discovery after the conversion is not working properly:

    Bonding mode set to
    10.10.10.18 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1
Running ADP...cat: /tmp/master: No such file or directory
    Done. Master is

I would advise you first, until things work, to have the APs in the same VLAN as the controller, and use DHCP. From the information that you provide (just from the AP side), it is difficult to make up what is setup incorrectly.

When APs go into 'Airmonitor' it is likely that there is a regulatory domain issue, for example US type APs on a Rest-of-World controller. Or the controller firmware does not support your AP yet.

Sometimes this can be fixed with a DRT (Downloadable Regulatory Table, or something like that), which can be found on the Aruba support site.

The support for AP-315 in Singapore (SG) was added in DRT 1.0_57776

AP-315 for Indonesia (ID): DRT 1.0_58226

    To check on your controller:

    I have 1 controller aruba 7005 with AOS 6.5.0 and 8 iap 315 with arubaInstant OS 6.5.0,

but these IAP's after I convert to controller, these IAP's detected as airmonitor ap, even if i provisioning to group ap as AP mode,

after I upgrade firmware controller to 6.5.4, these IAP's detect as down access point, and always loop restart,

even after I upgrade firmware arubaInstant OS of these IAP's to 6.5.4, the problem still happen, detect as down AP on monitoring controller

While the APs are rebooting, type "show log system 50" on the Aruba Controller to see if it says why the APS are rebooting.  You should have a controller with a ROW designation.  Also, type "show ap database" to see if those down APS have a flag.
