I was wondering if there was any way to interrogate the IAP cluster using an API. Or if not is there a plan to implement this?

There is a limited set of commands available for XML API on the IAP itself.

Primarily used for creating guest users externally if you want to run your own custom external captive portal.

OK thanks for the info. I am working with some developer who were hoping to gather more information from guest users - statistics etc.

tell developer to sniff the way a web browser interacts with the IAP to first authenticate and then inject commands (which is what the maintenance menu is doing). It's pretty easy to do and more or less perfectly supported because that's all that the webUI does.
