Link Budget Calculation for indoor RF envrionment!

Hello Experts.

Does link budget calcuations have any relevance when doing indoor rf planning?

Where does the requirement to proceed with link budget calculations best fits in?

Link budget is used for mesh, which is not typically deployed indoors.

Re: Link Budget Calculation for indoor RF envrionment!

Thanks Joseph,

Your response do makes sense.

So the link budget is basically calculated between infrastructure devices (eg APs...)?

Will having link budget calucation in place between infrastructure device and client device makes any sense?

I need this info as part of documenation and thus curious to know where the link budget calcuations best fits in wlan design considerations.

Link budgets are only calculated for fixed wireless infrastructure devices, not clients.  It is typically theoretical, but used to understand the type of throughput that could be accomplished for a link during the planning stages of a project.  It is not calculated between an AP And clients, at all and it makes no real sense to do so, because the link between an client and a device varies a great deal.  You would typically do a site survey to estimate the signal strength the throughput to client devices.
