Looking for Release Notes Perspective

I'm about to upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3. As I read thorugh the Release Notes I see a few Bug IDs that really stick out and got me wondering about the frequency of occurence of each issue. For example, we have thousands of AP-125s. Does the Known Issue below suggest the issue will happen, might happen, or has been known to happen?

Known Issues and Limitations in ArubaOS 6.3.1.8

---

100251 Symptom: AP-120 device crashes.
Scenario: This issue is observed with AP-120 devices running ArubaOS 6.3.x.x or ArubaOS 6.4.
Platform: AP-120.
Reported Version: ArubaOS 6.3.1.5.
Workaround: None.

That bug, as it says it is not fixed yet.  No word on how many people actually encounter it. Historically, issues are underreported for older hardware like the AP125, so I would wait, especially if you have a sizeable deployment of AP125s.

Re: Looking for Release Notes Perspective

I have a sizeable deployment of "older" APs. Waiting is easier said than done. And upgrading all of these APs is more complicated than one might think.

Can anyone on this list tell me if they are using AP-125s, AP-65s, and yes, even AP-60s, successfuly with 6.3?

We need to upgrade to accomodate new buildings coming online with AP-225s. I hate the thought of lobotomizing my local controllers and splitting mobility domains just to accomodate this workaround, partoicularly. I was anecdotally told that older APs would work under 6.3.

Here is our breakdown:

Aruba AP 125     2608     53.32%
Aruba AP 65       1131     23.12%
Aruba AP 135     713      14.58%
Aruba AP 60       57        1.17%

Brandeis was running 6.3 and now 6.4 with about 700 AP-125s without issue.

Re: Looking for Release Notes Perspective

Mldickson,

Please work with your SE to assess your upgrade. Alot of work has been done to ensure that the AP125 will work as intended in 6.3. The bug in the release noted is reported because during the release it was unresolved. Working with your SE to determine if you would be susceptible to that bug in specific and if you have all the rest of your network prepared is the best wholistic approach.

Re: Looking for Release Notes Perspective

** Edit - Didn't notice the version number **

Our AP125s have been stable once we moved to 6.3.1.3.

Re: Looking for Release Notes Perspective

It's been two weeks since we upgraded from 6.2.1.5  -->  6.3.1.8. Almost all 4300+ APs came right back up after upgrading. A few APs  needed to be power cycled post-upgrade but then they were a-ok  Our in-field AP models are AP-60,65,125,135 and 225. We have a mix of M3's and 7200s. Everything is working happily.
