Master Controller Throughput

Designing for a campus and planning to use 2-7220s as local controllers and a 7210 as a master controller. All APs will connect to the 7220s and I am planning on using 10G redundant connections to those controllers. My question is does a master controller with no APs need 10G connection? Anyone have a similiar setup with suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Master Controller Throughput

The short answer is no.

The back of the napkin equation is 1 gigabit ethernet port for each 100 APs that terminate on a controller.  If a controller does not have any APs that terminate on that controller, it would only need a single gigabit ethernet port.

I like that equation. Will need to keep that in mind.
