    We are running a master (7210) with locals (7240's) and ran into an issue yesterday.

    Users reported connectivity issues/being kicked off the wireless network.  We are still working with TAC but initial indications show that the STM process/module crashed causing the APs to stop communicating with the controllers.

     

    We are running ArubaOS 6.3.1.16 and again the case is still being worked by Aruba TAC.

     

    It's very odd that both local controllers would crash at the same time.  The local controllers are geographically separated as well as on different L3 networks.  I am wondering if the master controller sent a message/command/process to the local controllers and upon execution of that message/command/process from the master the locals crashed...

     

    In any case would be interested to hear if this situation has happened to others?

    Just to keep this thread updated, after working with TAC/Dev team it was identified the following error log messages are tell-tale signs that malformed UDP packets are being processed by the controller and if enough of them are processed will cause the STM process to crash.

    Hope to get more information from TAC soon.

    Final analysis from Aruba TAC/Engineering was that we were hitting a bug in 6.3.1.16, bug ID 114442.  The fix was released in 6.3.1.17 the following day.  This is also fixed in 6.4.2.8 onwards.
