Migrating from Personal Router to 205H for Lighting Control

One of our departments has a pair of personal wireless routers for controlling lighting/sound in their room via their iPad. *Note - the routers have no internet connectivity and are physically separate from our wired network. They exist only to establish wireless connectivity to the iPads themselves.* Ideally, we'd like to migrate/consolidate the console devices to an Aruba 205H AP (mulitple wired ports) - Lighting Console gets one port, Sound Console gets second port, etc. Would I be able to keep the traffic isolated within the custom SSID and designated console's port? One of the console's may need to act as a DHCP Server for the iPad (still researching this), so I'm trying to keep the AP isolated as possible while still allowing for AP Management (Power/Channel).

    Hi,

Are you going to use the AP 205H as an Instant AP or Controller based AP?

    Thanks,

    Rajaguru Vincent

    Hi Rajaguru,

Will be using the Aruba 205H as a Controller-Based AP.

    Thank you for your time,

    Chris

    Hi,

I guess your setup would be like this,

    SSID-1 - Lighting system; Port 1 - Lighting console

    SSID-2 - Sound system; Port-2 - Sound console.

If that is the case, you can keep the Light system on VLAN-1 and Sound system on VLAN-2. Port-1 on VLAN-1, Port-2 on VLAN-2.

On Lighting system role, block access to VLAN-2.

On Sound system role, block access to VLAN-1.

If one of the Consoles is the DHCP server, allow DHCP on position 1 ACL.

    Thanks,

    Rajaguru Vincent

    Thanks Rajaguru,

That is the setup I'm going for with the initial migration. Hoping I can get some time to get to work on this (one of my co-engineers left recenetly - so getting spread a bit thin on some current projects). Thanks again for your time!
