    Dear Support,

Need clarification on the ARUBA Mesh between outdoor AP-175 and outdoor AP-275.

We have a client with larger area, where there are 40 poles with distance of 100 Mtr gap between with pole of 15 Mtr height, out of 40 poles we have 15 poles with Fiber uplink, now we need to plan the Mesh connectivity between all the APs.

My actual question is if we establish the Mesh between all the APs with 5Ghz can both radio will serve the client or only radio which is not configured as MESH.

We also have planned MSR2K and MSR4k devices for establishing P2P to achieve MESH, need suggestion on the same.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nagaraj Kukke

You can serve clients on both radios when you do mesh between AP-175s and AP-275s, but your performance will suffer when you serve clients on the mesh or backhaul radio.  In addition, when you are doing point to point mesh, the mesh antennas are typically not pointed towards your clients, so it is not optimal to serve clients on the mesh radio.

Please take a look at the point to point VRD here http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Validated-Reference-Design/Outdoor-Point-to-Point-Deployments/ta-p/155628

Please also work closely with a qualified partner on your mesh solution because there is a lot of planning involved with the deployment you are describing.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the updats.

I wanted to know the signal coverage range of the AP-175 with omni antenna 3DB gain and AP-275 in open area.

If the AP distance is more than 100Mtr can we establish MESH inbetween AP-175 and AP-275.

In our client sinario the AP distance will be minimum 100Mtr to 250Mtr.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nagaraj Kukke

The client coverage and the distance of your mesh depends on what antennas you use.  You can use the outdoor planner to determine the predicted mesh link rates, as well as client coverage rates.  Information and a video about the outdoor planner is here:  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Technology-Blog/New-quot-How-To-quot-Videos-from-the-Aruba-3D-Outdoor-Planner/ba-p/45272

I would also engage with a qualified partner if you feel this is above your level of experience. using an all-omni design with 100m spacing where all APs are omnis could get problematic with ACI/CCI. epending on where you are and what youre regulatory restrictions are, geography, etc, it might just be a small problem or a very large problem.

    Hi,

We are one of the partner of the Aruba.

Also note, Aruba doesn't make any outdoor antennas with 3dBi gain, the lowest gain omni antennas we have for outdoor are 5dBi. Recommended client distance for phones/tablets is 100-150m, though 200-300m is sometimes possible depending on client type, line of sight, etc.

    Hi,

There is PN with AP-ANT-90 with 3.0dBi

Please read through the Outdoor MIMO VRD thoroughly as it covers many of these and likely future questions.

    http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Validated-Reference-Design/Outdoor-MIMO-Wireless-Networks/ta-p/155624

The ANT-90 is designed for client coverage only as a downtilt omnidirectional antenna, and is not designed for use as a mesh antenna. It was replaced by the ANT-3x3-D100, which is a directional 100deg x 90deg and can be used as a directional client access or mesh antenna when used in the H-Plane (facing out), or as a client access only antenna in a down-tilt orientation (facing down) and is not recommended for mesh).

As far as doing client access and mesh on the same radios, that is not recommended, but if performance of the mesh is not critical and you don't care about bandwidth andor latency, you can.

As a partner, you have access to the partner portal on arubapedia, as well as all the public VRDs.
