    Hello all,

I've just provisioned 3 new APs. One of them, keeps rebooting after image update. More specifically, the following is repeated for ever in the controller's log:

    Apr 2 23:35:14 :311002:  <WARN> |AP 24:de:c6:c0:6b:89@172.17.25.164 sapd|  Rebooting: SAPD: Reboot after successful image upgrade
    Apr 2 23:35:14 :303086:  <ERRS> |AP 24:de:c6:c0:6b:89@172.17.25.164 nanny| Process Manager (nanny) shutting down - AP will reboot!
    Apr 2 23:37:21 :303022:  <WARN> |AP 24:de:c6:c0:6b:89@172.17.25.164 nanny|  Reboot Reason: No reboot message found.
    Apr 2 23:38:00 :305048:  <WARN> |stm|  Dropping unsecure AP message code 16121 from AP at 172.17.25.164 (MAC address 24:de:c6:c0:6b:89)
    Apr 2 23:38:00 :311010:  <WARN> |AP 24:de:c6:c0:6b:89@172.17.25.164 sapd| AP could not boot from flash -- bad checksum

Does this mean the AP needs to be replaced? I'm at a remote location so unfortunately I can't use a serial connection to troubleshoot this.

Naturally, it appears as being "Down" most of the time when running "show ap database" except those few times connection is established, the AP apparently receives the configuration, until it fails to boot so it goes down again.

    Any ideas?

    What version of ArubaOS?

    What model of access point?

Do you have control plane security enabled?

    Hi Joseph,

    I'm running version 6.1.3.5

The access point is an AP-93

Yes. Control Plane Security is enabled, and Auto Cert Provisioning is also enabled for all devices getting an IP address from a specific range. I have verified the AP does get an IP from this range of addresses, during the short time it remains "up".

How is that access point powered?

    802.3af from Dell Powerconnect 3524

    The switch reports:

    Global
    Power StatusOn
    Nominal Power370
    Consumed Power48

And for the port the AP is connected to:

    Port Settings
    Select a Port 15
    PoE Admin Status Auto
    PoE Operational StatusDelivering Power
    Power Priority Level Low
    Power ConsumptionClass 3
    Powered Device (0-24 Characters)
    Overload Counter0
    Short Counter0
    Denied Counter0
    Absent Counter0
    Invalid Signature Counter0

    Allright.

Since the access point shows up in "show ap database" it did contact the controller, so that it means it did not have problems booting and connecting (not booting from flash is cosmetic in this case).  You will probably have to retrieve that access point and put a console cable on it and find out what the problem is.

    Thanks.

I'll see to it on my next visit to the premises.
