Newly provisionned APs missing Floor plan info

    Bonjour,

We re-installed our Airwave to go to the CentOS 6 based version 7.7.

We started from scratch and, after configuration, pointed Airwave at our Master controller and it imported all the installed APs, along with their Floor plan information.

We then provisionned new APs (AP-105, our normal AP). After the normal Select-AP-Group, Define-FQLN, Define-AP-name and Apply-and-reboot steps, all is good on the controller.

But, Airwave doesn't show the Floor plan information. Everything else is there.  See the enclosed screen shots.

We re-pooled the AP numerous times.

    Versions: ArubaOS 6.1.3.9 on 2 x M3, Airwave 7.7.3 on dedicated hardware

    Any ideas ?

Did you export the RF plan from the controller and then Import them into VisualRF in Airwave?

The FQDN is not enough on the controller side, for the access points to appear on the Airwave side..

You could manually Go to the VisualRF floor map in Airwave and click on "Add Deployed Devices" to Add/Manipulate those devices, if they are there.

Manually adding the AP in VisualRF works but is a bit labour intensive!

The RF Plan was exported from the Master and imported in Airwave when we rebuilt the server.

The new APs are obviously not on the controller's RF Plan that was imported to Airwave,.

They were placed in its correct position on the controller's RF Plan after the provisionning process and both RF Plan and config were saved/written to flash.

What is needed, aside from the RF Plan and FQDN for the the AP to be automagically dumped in the correct floor plan?

Especially since going to 6.3.0.x will make RF Plan disappear.

Sounds to me like your most up to date maps are on the controller.  AirWave has no way of getting just the new changes since there's no direct tie-in with RF Plan.  I would propose the following:

    1. Delete all floor plans from AirWave that are in the RF Plan

    2. Create a new RF Plan backup

    3. Import the RF Plan backup into AirWave

(Remember that the option is on VisualRF -> Import tab)

Unless any APs were moved in AirWave, the floor plan should be the same.  Then draw exterior walls again once VisualRF has processed the floor plan import.  After which, update company process to have the deployment of new APs mapped in AirWave instead of on the controller.

Thanks, this helps with the post-RF Plan workflow when 6.3 goes GA.
