Hello everyone!
We have been seeing some problems here at the university I work for using the Ethernet 1 as a passthrough to wall ports. For some reason, when a device connects to a wall port that is coming off the Eth 1 port, the MAC address of the devices gets cached on the port and does not time out. So what we are seeing here is students in the residential dorms unable to connect their devices to our network because they connect their device via wired connection to a port connecting to the Eth 1 port on an AP-125, then when they go to connect to another port in another room they suddenly are unable to connect to the network (they end up getting a self assigned 169.254.x.x address) because their MAC address has not timed out from the Eth 1 port.
Anyone know why this behavior occurs? We use the Eth 1 as a handoff to wall ports quite a bit, yet we are only seeing this problem occur on a few AP's. The problem isn't severe, we can simply reboot the AP's from the swtichport and clear the MAC addresses, but these kids keep moving their devices around. Any ideas will be welcome!
