    Hi @ all,

I´ve a problem with the master and backup controller config.

I want to use my "old" aruba controller 651 as the master controller and my new 651er Controller as its backup.

    Bouth controller running OS 6.3.1.2.

But I don´t get this work.

    My controller1 Master IP: 192.168.25.10 vlan 25

    My controller2 Backup IP: 192.168.25.11 vlan 25

    VRRP: 192.168.25.100 vlan 25.

I configured it like in this howto : http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS_61/ArubaOS_61_UG/VRRP.php

So now the controller cant ping each other...

    Have anyone an idea?

    what is wrong?

    Thanks

Try setting your Master VRRP to 10 on both controllers; not 1 and 2....it needs to refer to the Virtual Router ID on the controller that you want to use.

Also on the 1st controller, delete VRRP 1 if it is not in use (doesn't look to be as it as 0.0.0.0 as an IP).

Ok, I set the Master VRRP on both controller to 10.

    I also delete the vrrp1 0.0.0.0 ...

Now the controller can ping each other,

when I go to the cli and do show master-red.

Both controllers corrent state is master:

Do you have an idea why it don´t work?

Ok, I looks like it has taken a little time and now it shows like it works. :-)

On my master controller at cli I take:

    cfgm set sync-type complete

    So far so good.

I also enabled the database sync on both controller.

At the backup controller are a few alerts:

The cfgm set sync-type complete command shows success in the master controller logs.

    Have you an idea?

OK good.   It looks like the backup does not have a PEFNG license on it?   Can you confirm?

    show ap license-usage

If you are runnining 6.3, you can enable centralized licensing as well:  http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS%206_3_1_Web_Help/Content/ArubaFrameStyles/New_Licenses/Multi__Network.htm

Ok, I think you are right, on the backup is no license.

I want to enable cenralized licensing.

If I´m right, I only have to enable it on the master controller right?

Have I configured it right? The Backup have no licenses on it yet and the alerts are the same.

I ´ve given a new IP for the license server IP adress, was that right?

This is what the backup controller says:

    11.JPG

The checkbox can´t be checked to enable centralized lic. on the backup controller.

That is correct, just wasn't sure if you had the master enabled.  In your setup, what is 192.168.25.101?     Your VRRP IP address for ID 10 is 192.168.25.100, isn't it?

I take this IP-adress for the license server (new ip adress)

    the vrrp address is 192.168.25.100!

I can´t give the vrrp ip adress to the license server:

it is a guess, but you could try to disable master redundancy, enable centralized licensing and enable master redundacy again.

It looks like both controllers claim they are master for 192.168.11.100.   Run the following on each, they should have different priorities set.  Your preferred master should have a higher priority number (for example 110 vs. 100).  Also check to see what preemption is set at.

    show vrrp 10
